Spiders of Iowa

Many people are terrified of spiders and find them extremely creepy. This is unfortunate because they are crucial to our environment and are incredibly interesting creatures!

Yellow Garden Spider-the body is around 1 inch long. The abdomen has a wide black mark in the center and sides and is covered with yellow patches. 

Spiders have over 50,000 species on the planet.

Highly Venomous

  • Brown Recluse (Loxosceles reclusa)
  • Southern Black Widow (Latrodectus mactans)
