Celebrate spring with the Wings and Wetlands Festival!
O’Brien County Events:
7:30 a.m. – Breakfast with the Birds – Prairie Heritage Center
Enjoy a cup of coffee and a muffin to get your day started.
Then see how many migrating songbirds can be spotted in just a short walk. Often over 50
species can be counted! The group will also carpool to Wanata to identify
more woodland birds.
11:00 a.m. – Wildflower Adventure – Bertram Reservation (Hwy 10 east of
Peterson to 140th Avenue. Go north approximately ½ mile)
Take a stroll to look for spring wildflower. Enjoy the sights and sounds of SPRING!
2:00 p.m. – Hurray for Herps – Prairie Heritage Center
Experience a hands-on encounter with native reptiles and amphibians. Then, hit the trail
in search of some of these animals.
5:00 p.m. – Prairie Evening Stroll – Waterman Prairie South (From Hwy 10 go
south on Wilson Avenue approximately 1 ½ miles)
Savor a treat for your senses as you step back in time on a piece of Iowa’s History – the
tallgrass prairie. Enjoy the plants, birds, and animals that burst onto the scene in the late afternoon.
