The O’Brien County Conservation Board is pleased to be able to host a passionate young speaker focusing on O’Brien County’s country schools. Local historian, Wesley Peters – a Hartley Melvin Sanborn sophomore – will be presenting “O’Brien County Country Schools” at the Prairie Heritage Center on Thursday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m.
Peters has embarked on an ambitious project to locate and describe the school houses within O’Brien County. He will share information that he has learned thorough his research and where this project will go next. Because his research is continuing, he invites interaction with program participants.
Many local residents attended country schools and can recall memories about time spent there. Who was your favorite teacher? What was your favorite item in your lunch pail? You are invited to share your memories with other program attendees.
Bring your family and friends out to the Prairie Heritage Center, 4931 Yellow Ave, for an interactive experience which will open the door to learning about Iowa History! For more information, call the Center at 712-295-7200.
