Hike the Valley

The conservation board is offering an opportunity to explore the Little Sioux and Waterman river valleys in a very personal way.  An adventure hike is planned for Saturday, June 15.  Participants will meet at Waterman Prairie South and walk on public land for approximately four miles.  This will be an “off-path” hike over rough and steep slopes.  It will pass along high prairie ridges, follow the river’s edge, and climb through a steep woodland.  Hikers can expect tall grass, insects, and sun.  Plan to dress in long pants and walking shoes.  Bring a water bottle which can be refilled at the halfway point.  The hike will take approximately four hours with transportation provided from the end point back to the vehicles at the beginning.

The goal of this hike is to provide an outdoor adventure which will go beyond the standard hikes usually offered and onto the next level.  Get a feel for the grand outdoors in your own backyard.  Please sign up for this event by emailing your name and phone number to occb@iowatelecom.net so that additional information can be shared with you prior to the hike.
