Learn more about this citizen science project to collect butterfly data from across the state of Iowa.
The O’Brien County Conservation Board is holding a training session for all citizens interested in helping with this project. You don’t need to be a butterfly expert! The training will provide the background and survey techniques necessary to become a volunteer butterfly monitor if you should choose to do so.
After the training, volunteer monitors are invited to collect butterfly data on a survey route of their own choosing. The monitor is encouraged to walk the route a minimum of six times throughout the summer season and enter the data in an on-line database. Support will be available as monitors collect data for this project.
