The annual Bald Eagle Watch event will be held on Saturday, March 20 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. This come-and-go event at the Prairie Heritage Center will have opportunities to see eagles and other raptors. The O’Brien County naturalist as well as other volunteers will be available to help you spot and identify eagles. There will also be hands-on activities to participate in.

At 11:00 a.m. we will host a virtual presentation by Shelby County and Iowa Department of Natural Resources Naturalist, Christina Roelofs. Christina has worked with birds through the help of Kay Newman at SOAR. She started with a Screech Owl, Red-tailed Hawk, and in 2007 was able to get to permanently injured Bald Eagles. She has two in her care and they are used to educate people. You will get to virtually meet her female Bald Eagle! This presentation will be over ZOOM. You can view at the Prairie Heritage Center or register for the zoom link by contacting Abbie at aparker@obriencounty.iowa.gov to view from the comfort of your own home.
