The O’Brien County Conservation Board is excited to announce that Abbie Parker has joined our team! Abbie began serving as the O’Brien County Naturalist on December 1. She is looking forward to providing programming and educational opportunities for the citizens and visitors of O’Brien County to enjoy. Please find her introduction letter and contact information below. Welcome, Abbie!
Hello! My name is Abbie Parker and I am proud to be the new Naturalist for O’Brien County Conservation. Originally from Fort Dodge, Iowa I have been a transplant to Northwest Iowa for the past 8 years. I am an avid Cyclone fan and earned a degree in Animal Ecology and Communication Studies from Iowa State University. For the past 13 years I have been a summer camp director where I have been able to share my love for the outdoors with youth and adults from all over Iowa and the country. I enjoy teaching canoeing & kayaking skills, leading nature hikes, doing arts & crafts, and birdwatching. Most of all I love exploring our natural world and ensuring that those same adventures are available for future generations.
I am excited to join the team at O’Brien County Conservation and provide a fresh take on an already amazing program. It is my goal to provide fantastic environmental education programs that will let individuals experience the sights, sounds, and smells of the tallgrass prairie and beyond. I hope you will join me in many positive outdoor recreation and natural resource opportunities!
Please reach out to inquire about future programming opportunities. I’d love to set up a time to meet (virtually or in-person) and hear what your needs are for an environmental education program. I can’t wait to meet you!
See you outside,
Abbie Parker
