Baby bison arrives!

B9F3The Prairie Heritage Center is ALL about those wild and crazy creatures – especially in the springtime when the new baby arrives! The staff keeps a close eye on the pasture as soon as May begins in hopes of being the first to spot the cinnamon colored bundle. This year our little one arrived on May 21 and was welcomed by the 2nd graders from Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on their spring field trip to the Prairie Heritage Center. The calf has gotten very frisky in less than a month’s time and can now be spotted frolicking farther and farther away from mom. Stop out to the center to get a look at the bison family! You can also play a role in giving the little one a name. It has become a tradition to hold a naming contest at the Bison Burger Picnic and Lawn Concert in August.
